McLaughlin wins Barrington Hills presidency
BARRINGTON HILLS – The village will have a new village president, according to unofficial results from Tuesday night.
Martin McLaughlin garnered 642 votes to defeat current Village President Robert Abboud, who received 499 votes.
Leading up to the Tuesday's vote, McLaughlin said his top priorities were lowering the tax burdern for village residents and reducing spending. He also said he wanted to strengthen the village's fiscal position.
He said he wants to continue the equestrian traditions of the community and make village leaders more responsive to resident concerns.
In the trustees election, the race for the third seat up for grabs remains close, as Kelly Mazeski trails incumbent Fritz Gohl by three votes. Gohl has 566 votes and Mazeski has 563 votes, according Tuesday's unofficial totals from Lake, McHenry, Kane and Cook counties.
In the race for the three trustee seats, Colleen Konicek Hannigan led the field with 604 votes. Michael Harrington had 573 votes.
David Stieper was in fifth place with 553 votes.
