Illinois governor says Texas governor 'big talker'
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Gov. Pat Quinn says Illinois doesn't need advice from Texas Gov. Rick Perry when it comes to jobs in the Land of Lincoln.
The Chicago Democrat calls Perry a "big talker."
Perry is heading to Illinois to recruit businesses to relocate to Texas. The former presidential candidate announced his trip Wednesday, after purchasing $42,000 in radio advertising in the Chicago area. Perry calls Texas business-friendly.
But Quinn touted Illinois as a great place for business and called Texas "water challenged." Quinn has recently played up Illinois' water technologies. He traveled to Mexico to promote Illinois businesses. This week attended the groundbreaking of pump maker Grundfos' North American headquarters in suburban Chicago.
The governors have met before. They were roommates during a 2009 trip to visit troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.
