Cubs trying to fit in game against Rangers

CHICAGO – Despite rain in the forecast throughout the day, the Cubs are going to try to play their series finale against the Rangers.

Yesterday's game was postponed because of the weather and a makeup date has not yet been chosen. Since this is the only time the two teams play each other, they want to avoid having to make up two games.

The weather has also affected pitcher Matt Garza's rehab assignment. Garza was scheduled to pitch at Kane County tomorrow, however, bad field conditions switched his assignment to a simulated game in Milwaukee. Garza will throw two innings and approximately 35 pitchers at Milwaukee. Manager Dale Sveum said Garza's next rehab start will likely come at Double-A Tennessee.

The weather isn't changing the Cubs' rotation. Sveum said he's sticking with Carlos Villanueva (0-0, 0.64 ERA) for today's start. Alexi Ogando (2-0, 1.08) starts for the Rangers.
