Spring Grove fire employees to receive 25-cent raise

Published: Friday, April 19, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

SPRING GROVE – All Spring Grove Fire Protection District employees except the chief will receive a 25-cent raise, its board of trustees decided Tuesday.

“They looked at budgets, and there isn’t a lot of money to do a bigger raise,” Fire Chief Rich Tobiasz said. “They wanted to give them something because cost of living is going up for everybody.”

The 25-cent raise is on average a 1.6 percent increase in wages.

Instead of a raise, Tobiasz received an additional three days of vacation, bringing him to five weeks total of vacation and sick time.

Tobiasz has been with the fire protection district 32 years, 20 of them as chief.
