Hydrant test causes rusty water in Marengo

Published: Friday, April 19, 2013 3:49 p.m. CDT

MARENGO – City officials are urging residents to run their water taps, if they are seeing rusty water spew out of it.

The Marengo water department conducted routine fire hydrant testing for a larger manufacturer earlier Friday, and the test caused some water hammering that dislodged sediment into the city's water system. The department cautions residents to run their taps until they no longer see any rusty water, before using the water.

For more information, contact the water department at (815) 568-7112, ext. 217.
