Sox put Viciedo on disabled list, recall Tekotte

CHICAGO – White Sox outfielder Dayan Viciedo hoped to avoid a stint on the disabled list after sustaining a left oblique strain, but the Sox opted to put him on the 15-day DL before Saturday's game.

The DL move is retroactive to Friday. The Sox recalled outfielder Blake Tekotte from Triple-A Charlotte. Tekotte, 25, gives manager another left-handed bat and he's capable of playing any outfield position.

Pitching coach Don Cooper is also back with the team after missing the entire 10-game road trip because of diverticulitis.

"What it amounted to for me was a bad, bad, bad stomach ache for five days," Cooper said. "There are so many people that have it so much worse, every day waking up with pain. I’m not going to beef about it."

After yesterday's postponement due to cold conditions, Jake Peavy (2-1, 3.93 ERA) starts today while right-hander Vance Worley (0-2, 10.50) takes the mound for Minnesota. In his last four starts against Minnesota, Peavy has picked up four wins while posting a 1.73 ERA. The Sox have won 12 of their last 14 games against the Twins.
