McHENRY – A McHenry man has been charged with two counts of armed robbery after he reportedly twice robbed the 7-Eleven in McHenry.

Shannon J. Jones, of 3703 James St. in McHenry, was arrested Sunday morning after McHenry Police responded at 1:39 a.m. to a report of a robbery at 7-Eleven, 3808 W. Elm St., according to a McHenry Police news release.

Officers set up a perimeter around the 7-Eleven and within minutes located Jones, 38, about two blocks from the store. He was detained until evidence confirmed he was involved in the robbery, then transported to the McHenry Police Department, police said.

The same 7-Eleven was robbed in the early morning hours April 1. In both robberies, the offender was armed with two knives and possessed the same physical description, police said.
