Crews search for possible Illinois flood victims

LASALLE, Ill. (AP) — Crews are using an air boat on the Illinois River to help locate a Peru woman who appears to have been stranded because of flooding.

Illinois Conservation Police commander Robert Frazier said Monday afternoon that he's hoping the air boat can clear debris from the water to help crews find 62-year-old Nancy Greening. Her van was found Friday near the Illinois River at LaSalle.

Frazier says he's anticipating the search for Greening is "a recovery at this point."

The search started after a staffer from The News-Tribune in LaSalle took an aerial photograph Friday afternoon showing a white van. The pilot radioed the Illinois Valley Regional Airport in Peru to report seeing a person standing near a van in water near the bridge.
