CHICAGO — The Cook County Sheriff's Department says officers have located an 8-month-old baby whose mother fled with him on April 9 from a Chicago treatment center.

Sheriff Tom Dart announced Tuesday that officers found the baby with his 41-year-old mother on Monday in Oak Park.

Dart says the mother is on parole for retail theft.

Authorities say the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services issued a child protection warrant Thursday after the mother missed an appointment.

The child is now under Family Service's custody.

Dart established a child protection unit in October to locate missing and abducted children in Cook County. The unit so far has recovered 133 children.
