CHARLESTON — An Iraq War veteran is walking 165 miles from his home near Chicago to his alma mater in eastern Illinois to raise money for the USO.

Brian Andries is a 2009 graduate of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, where he was enlisted in the Reserve Officer Training Corps.

Andries says he wanted to mark the end of his four-year commitment to the US Army by returning to the place where his military career started.

He left his hometown of Oswego on Saturday and is expected to arrive at Eastern Illinois University's Old Main on Friday.

Andries is collecting donations online for the USO of Illinois, which provides support to U.S. troops.
