To the Editor:
I am writing to express approval of my state Rep. Jack Franks’ bipartisan approach to his work in Springfield.
Throughout his tenure of service, I have always found him to be focused more on solving problems than engaging in the same old partisan politics.
After I read Chelsea McDougall’s April 10 article, “Double barrel bonds regulation passes House,” about Franks’ work with Republican Rep. David McSweeney to empower taxpayers to stop the abusive issuance of bonds by local governments, I went to the Legislature’s webpage and looked at the bills he has introduced or is co-sponsoring. The list says to me that Franks will work with anyone, from either party, to do good things for McHenry County and this state.
He is working with fellow McHenry County Reps. Barb Wheeler and Mike Tryon to put a stop to credit-card surcharges and to bring transparency to the state financial grant system. I also heard he is doing a series of town-hall events with Republican state Sen. Pam Althoff, and I hope to make it to the next one.
I wish everyone in Springfield was as focused on results as these legislators. A lot more would get done.
