Bombs and weapons

To the Editor:

To follow the extended logic of the NRA and other weapon advocates, everyone needs to arm themselves with bombs and explosives.

If people at the Boston Marathon would have had the appropriate weapons, this would not have happened. The more guns and other weapons that are manufactured and the more that weapons are distributed among the general population, the less this kind of incident will happen.

This is indicative of what happens in gun violence. No one suspects it is going to happen, and, once it does, it is too late even if others are armed.

I would argue that with more guns in everyone’s hands, the more likely innocent people get killed by innocent people – more opportunities for deadly, fatal accidents to happen to innocent people and the more domestic violence with innocent people losing their life. There’s also a greater increase of suicide among all age groups, especially the young.

Some answer that is too bad; it isn’t our fault. Why should I lose my right to own any kind of weapon just because other innocent people lose their life? It isn’t fair; it isn’t just to take my guns and other weapons away.

Why can’t people understand that the more weapons that are produced, the greater the chance for violence.
