Injuries shorten White Sox's bench

CHICAGO – The White Sox's bench is down to two players tonight against the Tampa Bay Rays with Jeff Keppinger and Dewayne Wise sidelined.

Tyler Greene is starting at second base in place of Keppinger (back spasms) while Wise (stiff neck) was a late scratch. Instead, Jordan Danks starts in center field and bats ninth. That leaves manager Robin Ventura with only two options on the bench: catcher Tyler Flowers and outfielder Blake Tekotte.

Jake Peavy (2-1, 3.20 ERA) starts for the Sox, who hope he can continue the run of stellar outings by starting pitchers. In the last eight games, Sox starting pitchers have posted a 1.95 ERA. Peavy also has found plenty of success at U.S. Cellular Field. Since June 1, Peavy owns a 2.24 ERA in 12 home starts.

Right-hander Roberto Hernandez (1-3, 4.74) starts for the Rays.
