Marengo’s Kissack knocks off Richmond-Burton for 1st win

Marengo pitcher Koty Kissack picked up his first win of the season Thursday in the Indians’ 6-2 Big Northern Conference East Division victory over Richmond-Burton.

Kissack gave up three hits over seven innings while going 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs at the plate. Jake Temple added two doubles and two RBIs for the Indians (4-6, 2-4).

Matt Malecki had a two-run home run for the Rockets (8-5, 5-2).

CL South 3, Huntley 2: At Crystal Lake, Tyler Hall improved to 5-1 for the Gators (11-1, 8-1) in their Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win. Hall allowed two earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts, with Jake Bigos, Ryan Wilkening and Garrett Bright all going 2 for 3 for South. Matt Sullivan went 2 for 3 with a double and a solo home run for the Red Raiders (14-2, 7-2).

Dundee-Crown 12, Prairie Ridge 8: At Crystal Lake, Luis Garcia went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored for the Chargers (6-8, 4-5), with Garrett Ryan adding an RBI and three runs scored on two hits in their FVC Valley win. Bryan Klendworth 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs and two runs scored for the Wolves (14-5, 6-3).

Grayslake North 10, Johnsburg 6: At Johnsburg, Kevin Kordik scored two runs and added an RBI, and Brandon Krennrich went 2 for 4 for the Skyhawks (2-10, 0-7) in their FVC Fox loss.

CL Central 14, Woodstock North 5: At Crystal Lake, Connor Skrypek went 5 for 5 to drive in five runs, and Matt Tegtmeier, Parker Harold and Will Dettmer drove in three each in an FVC Fox win for the Tigers (8-6, 4-5).

Grayslake Central 7, Woodstock 0: At Grayslake, Alex Ferguson provided one of three Woodstock (4-6, 2-6) hits in two at-bats in an FVC Fox Division loss.

Hampshire 10, Marian Central 5: At Hampshire, Michael Laramie drove in three runs on a triple, double and single, and R.J. Consigny brought in a pair in a nonconference win for the Whip-Purs (7-7). Tanner Spoden and Edgar Ross both homered for the Hurricanes (5-5).

Westminster Christian 8, Alden-Hebron 7: At Elgin, Matt Winter drove in three runs and Tim Talbert added three runs scored for the Giants (7-5, 5-2) in their Northeastern Athletic Conference loss.

TENNIS

Huntley 4, CL Central 3: At Huntley, Josh Simons won at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 7-6, and Matt Frederick and Jake Grabner won at No. 2 doubles, 6-1, 6-3, in an FVC crossover win for the Red Raiders (5-2). Danny Nelson won at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 4-6, 6-3, and Matt O’Connell and Billy O’Connell won at No. 2 doubles for Central, 6-3, 6-4.

Cary-Grove 7, Woodstock North 0: At Woodstock, Owen Russell, at No. 1 singles, and Brian O’Connor, at No. 3 singles, won in straight sets in an FVC crossover sweep for the Trojans.

CL South 7, Dundee-Crown 0: At Carpentersville, Brandon Jarva won at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-3, and Andy Koltun and Kyle Devlin won at No. 1 doubles, 6-4, 6-1, in an FVC Valley sweep for the Gators (6-8, 4-3).

Grayslake Central 4, Johnsburg 3: At Johnsburg, Kevin Wells took No. 1 singles in straight 6-1 sets for the Skyhawks, as Johnsburg swept doubles play in an FVC Fox loss.

Prairie Ridge 6, McHenry 1: At McHenry, Hayden Dzurisin won at No. 3 singles in straight 6-0 sets for the Wolves.

Dennis Quitalig and Nick Higgin won No. 1 doubles 6-3, 6-4 for the Warriors.

Marian Central 5, Montini 0: At Lombard, Joe Herba and Owen Rost won their No. 2 doubles match in straight 6-0 sets for the Hurricanes in their SCC win.

LACROSSE

Cary-Grove 9, Vernon Hills 4: At Vernon Hills, Trevor Dorn scored three goals and had three assists for the Trojans, with Alec Johnson adding four goals.
