PALOS HILL – The body of a first responder killed in the explosion at a Texas fertilizer plant is being returned to the Chicago area, where he grew up.

Kevin Sanders was from the suburb of Palos Hills. He was working as an EMS in the tiny Texas town of West, where the blast occurred earlier this month. He was among the 14 people killed in the explosion.

Ten of the people killed were first responders who rushed to the nighttime blaze.

WLS-TV reported that Sanders’ remains will arrive on a flight at O’Hare International Airport on Saturday evening and receive a full honors escort organized by several fire departments.

Sanders is survived by a wife and 3-month-old son. He attended Marist High School.
