McHenry grocery store robbed

McHENRY – Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at a McHenry grocery store Tuesday night, according to the McHenry Police Department.

Police were called to the Aldi food store, 1742 N. Richmond Road, at about 8 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a robbery.

A man approached a cashier to buy an item, and when the store employee opened the cash register, the man took an undisclosed amount of cash out of the register and fled the area on foot, according to a news release.

No weapon was used, and no one was injured, police said.

The man is described as a white male, around 6 feet tall, between 40 and 50 years old. He was clean shaven with a slim build, wearing blue jeans, white tennis shoes, a light blue long-sleeve shirt, a baseball cap and sunglasses, the news release said.

Anyone with information about the incident should call McHenry police at 815-363-2599 or 815-363-2124.
