VARNA — Autopsies are scheduled for two truck drivers who were killed in a head-on collision near the central Illinois community of Varna.

The Journal Star in Peoria reports that the two truckers were traveling on Illinois Route 89 on Wednesday afternoon when the crash occurred. They were both pronounced dead at the scene and their bodies were not removed from the vehicles for several hours.

Marshall County Coroner David Lenz Jr. says that the names of the truckers would be released at about noon on Thursday. He says that preliminary information indicates one of the victims was a resident of Illinois and the other a resident of Michigan. He says the autopsies are set to be conducted on Friday.
