WOODSTOCK – An Island Lake couple face felony theft charges after allegedly stealing tools from a Crystal Lake business and reselling them, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Milton C. Chapa and Liliana H. Bravo, both of 3207 S. Cherry Ave., were arrested this week and charged with a felony count each of theft of more than $10,000.

The sheriff’s office recently was contacted by members of the Snap-on corporate security office in regard to possible thefts taking place at the Crystal Lake location at 3009 Route 176, Undersheriff Andrew Zinke said.

Investigators working with Snap-on officials worked for several weeks narrowing down suspects and determined that Bravo, an employee, was stealing tools, storing them in her garage and reselling them with the help of her husband, Zinke said.

The majority of items reported stolen, more than $27,000 worth, later were recovered from the garage of their home.

The two have since been released from the McHenry County Jail after posting bond.

They are scheduled to appear in court later this month.
