Police officer's son among those shot recently

CHICAGO — The spate of shootings in Chicago over the past few days that left three people dead also injured several others, including the son of a Chicago police officer who was shot and killed three years ago.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that 30-year-old Michael Bailey Jr. was in a car on Tuesday afternoon on the city's South Side when someone in another vehicle shot him. The man's mother says Bailey doesn't know who shot him.

Bailey's father, Michael Bailey, was off duty after working as one of then-Mayor Richard Daley's guards when he was shot and killed in front of his home as he polished his car in July 2010. A man has been charged with murder and he is awaiting trial.
