Seminar to highlight growing tomatoes

WOODSTOCK – The spring series of the Four Seasons Gardening program, from University of Illinois Extension, continues with “All About Tomatoes: Strategies for Controlling Common Pests and Disorders.”

The program will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and will be presented via teleconference at the McHenry County Extension Office, 1102 McConnell Road, Woodstock.

Although tomatoes are considered a garden favorite and easy to grow, they can succumb to a number of pests and environmental disorders. In this session, participants will learn how to identify the most common tomato diseases and insect pests, and how best to control them.

Nutritional disorders and other common environmentally induced problems will be discussed as well.

This is the third session of the spring series. The next program, “Don’t Doubt the Drought,” is set for 6:30 p.m. May 23.

The cost for the session is $5.

Advance registration is required and can be done online at web.extension.illinois.edu/lm. If you have disability needs, please indicate when registering.

For information, call 815-338-3737.
