Two Elgin police members were injured early Saturday morning after responding to a burglary.

After receiving a call for a burglary in progress at approximately 2:42 a.m., responding officers arrived at the Sam's Club at 1000 S. Randall Road about two minutes later. They saw two male suspects entering a pickup truck.

According to a press release, as one officer was attempting to gain control of a passenger partially in the vehicle, the vehicle was driven away, knocking the officer out of the truck. The vehicle then struck a second officer as well as the squad car.

Both officers were treated and released from the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects were pursued on a chase that went from Elgin into incorporated Kane County, then to Chicago, and then north to Wisconsin. The suspects were stopped and taken into custody in Racine County by the Wisconsin State Highway Patrol.

The suspects are being held in Wisconsin until charges can be filed.
