Central Ill. city to review party bus regulations

Published: Sunday, May 5, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

BLOOMINGTON – The party – or at least the party bus – may be over in one central Illinois community.

The (Bloomington) Pantagraph reported Bloomington officials are reviewing regulations for party buses following an incident last month.

Illinois State Police shut down a Wild Nites party bus during a run to Champaign.

The bus was licensed by the city of Bloomington, but police said it had several safety violations, including a rear door that was bolted shut.

Police also cited 51 underage passengers for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

Todd Greenburg is Bloomington city attorney. He said the city will take a closer look at how it regulates the buses.

The vehicles must pass an inspection twice each year.
