Northwest Herald editor wins 2 Lisagor Awards

Northwest Herald Features Editor and graphic designer R. Scott Helmchen took home two Peter Lisagor Awards for exemplary journalism Friday night in a competition sponsored by the Chicago Headline Club.

Helmchen won in the categories of Best Design and Best Illustration. For design, he won for his entries “2012 Summer Festival Guide,” “MaDoNnA,” “It Don’t Mean A Thing If You Ain’t Got That Swing” and “Unwrap a New Season of Sounds.” For illustration, he won for his entries, “Anatomy of a Super Summer,” “Bet on Black,” “Summer Concert Guide” and “Holiday Heavyweights.”  

This is Helmchen’s fifth consecutive win of a Peter Lisagor Award.

The Chicago Headline Club, the Chicago chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, host the annual Peter Lisagor Awards for Exemplary Journalism. Awards were presented at a dinner at the Union League Club of Chicago.
