CRYSTAL LAKE – The National Association of Letter Carriers, the National Rural Letter Carrier Association and the U.S. Postal Service will conduct their 21st annual Nationwide Food Drive on Saturday to help stock food banks and pantries.

Postal customers in Crystal Lake are asked to leave nonperishable food items by their mailboxes Saturday. When the letter carrier delivers the mail, he will collect the food, return it to the post office, and from there it will be delivered to the Crystal Lake Interfaith Food Pantry. Customers also can drop off food in the lobby at the post office, 301 E. Congress Parkway.

Last year, more than 70 million pounds of food were collected nationwide from postal customers. More than 3,000 cities and towns across the nation participated in the drive.
