ECC to hold auditions for 'Urinetown'

ELGIN – Elgin Community College Musical Theatre will have auditions for the spring production of “Urinetown, The Musical.”

Directing and choreographing the musical is Konnie Kay. ECC professor John G. Slawson is the artistic and musical director.

Auditions for men and women are available by appointment from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 18.

Open auditions are scheduled at 8 p.m. Thursday and at 1 p.m. May 18. All auditions are held in the ECC Arts Center, Building H, room H245 on the main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. 

Performers should prepare a musical number from any Broadway show other than “Urinetown, The Musical” and bring sheet music in a three-ring binder for the accompanist, who will be provided. Taped accompaniment or a cappella singing will not be permitted. Performers must wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the dance audition. Auditions are open to ages 16 and up.

If necessary, callbacks are scheduled for 7 p.m. May 21.

Rehearsals begin at 7 p.m. May 28. Regular rehearsals run from 6 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday evenings. The production opens July 19 and runs weekends through Aug. 4.
