2 accused of beating girl for eating ice cream

CHICAGO — Authorities allege that Chicago man and his girlfriend beat the man's 11-year-old daughter because she ate his ice cream.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that 41-year-old Pierre Scarbrough and 37-year-old Faith Alston appeared in court Sunday, where a Cook County judge ordered each of them held in lieu of $200,000 bail. Both are charged with aggravated battery of a child and domestic battery.

The paper says authorities say the two allegedly plotted for hours to beat the girl and did so when she returned from school to their South Side home from last week. They say when the girl arrived home on Thursday afternoon, the two came into her bedroom, where Alston held her down while Scarbrough struck her with the cord a dozen times.
