Algonquin offers free electronics recycling

ALGONQUIN – Residents will be able to recycle electronics Saturday for free.

The village will accept electronics at its public works facility. Electronic equipment such as monitors, laptops, servers, televisions, computers, printers, fax machines, scanners, DVD players, stereos, VCRs, video game consoles, computer mice, keyboards, cellphones, networking equipment, MP3 players, iPods, UPS batteries, copiers and typewriters will be accepted.

Large white goods or appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, freezers, dishwashers, dryers and air conditioners will not be accepted. Smoke detectors, curling irons, medical waste products, household batteries and rubber-based items will not be accepted. 

The free e-waste recycling event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Public Works Facility at 110 Meyer Drive. Proof of residency will be required. For more information, visit www.algonquin.org/ECO.
