Cary Park District plans track meet in June

CARY – The Cary Park District will host a local track and field meet where competitors will have the opportunity to advance to a state or national meet.

The meet is part of Hershey’s National Track and Field Games and is open to youngsters 9 to 14 years old.

Events include the 50-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, 800-meter run, 1,600-meter run, a 4x100 relay, standing long jump and softball throw. Winners of the meet may be eligible to move to a state meet or the national finals in Hershey, Pa., according to a park district news release.

The meet will be from noon to 3 p.m. June 2 at Cary-Grove High School. Registration is free, but the deadline to sign up is May 30.
