WOODSTOCK – A McHenry man was sentenced Thursday to six years in prison for sexually abusing a family member.

Todd Marriner, 41, pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse in exchange for dropping additional sex charges.

The plea was accepted by McHenry County Judge Sharon Prather.

Criminal sexual abuse is a Class 2 felony, punishable by up to seven years in prison.

Assistant State's Attorney Michael Combs, chief of the criminal division, said that in 2009 Marriner rubbed the breasts and vagina of a family member. A subsequent investigation revealed a second victim who was not related, Combs said.

Marriner had no prior criminal history.

"I felt that six years was appropriate given the circumstances," Combs said after Marriner's court appearance.
