Former McHenry football coach Mike Noll, the most successful coach in the school’s history, will be inducted into the McHenry High School Athletic Hall of Fame on the weekend of Friday, Aug. 30 and Saturday, Aug. 31.

Noll joins five athletes and one team in the 2013 induction class. Carl Neiss (1947), Dick Hiller (1950), Tom Huemann (1953), Tom Ludwig (1976) and Jillian Elder (1995) are the athletes. The 1995 wrestling team also will be inducted.

Noll coached the Warriors in football from 1988 through 2003. McHenry was 142-29 during that stretch and won the Fox Valley Conference title 14 of those 16 years. The Warriors were 7-3 three times under Noll, their lowest win total, and had eight seasons in which they had only one loss while he was coach. McHenry never missed the playoffs under Noll, who now coaches at Glenbrook South.

Neiss was a standout for the Warriors in football, basketball and baseball. Hiller is the brother of Chuck Hiller, the former San Francisco Giants player, and also played in three sports for the Warriors. Hiller was voted the top Illinois All-State Semi-Pro baseball player three times.

Huemann was another three-sport star for McHenry and went on to play baseball and basketball as a freshman at Notre Dame. Ludwig, the son of former McHenry boys basketball coach Ken Ludwig, was All-North Suburban Conference in football, basketball and baseball. He played baseball and basketball at Elmhurst College.

Elder was a standout player in tennis and badminton for the Warriors. She was an All-State tennis player, qualified for the IHSA Badminton State Tournament three times and was valedictorian of her senior class.

The 1995 wrestling team won the Fox Valley Conference Tournament and finished 20-0 in duals under coach Mike Hurckes. The Warriors also won a regional. Matt McDonnell, already a member of the Hall of Fame, and Jason Schmidt were two of the best wrestlers that year.
