The Prairie Ridge softball team scored four runs in the top of the 13th inning to beat Marengo, 5-2, on in a nonconference game Saturday in Marengo.

Neither team scored a run until the 12th inning, with both Kirsten Stevens and Bethany Hart both going the distance for their teams. Stevens earned the win for the Wolves (25-3), giving up two earned runs on four hits with 20 strikeouts. Hart allowed five earned runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts for the Indians (26-9).

Melissa Richter drove in two runs for Prairie Ridge in the win, with Stephanie Cartwright and Taylor Carlson each adding an RBI for the Indians.

Marengo defeated Lakes, 10-4, earlier in the day, with Carlson going 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Class 1A Durand Regional: At Durand, Alden-Hebron fell, 3-2, in nine innings in the regional championship.

Sparkle Lagerhausen suffered the loss despite giving up one earned run, allowing no walks and striking out 10 over 81/3 innings for the Giants (16-6).

Freeport quadrangular: At Freeport, Huntley won two of its three games, defeating Johnsburg, 20-0 in five innings, and Freeport, 6-2, but falling to LaSalle-Peru, 7-4.

Haley Spannraft earned the wins in the first two games for the Red Raiders (22-11), with Mackenzie Brown hitting a grand slam and totaling six RBIs in Game 1. Randi Peterson combined to go 5 for 6 with a home run, a double, six RBIs and three walks in both wins for Huntley.

Amanda Cherwin went 1 for 2 for the Skyhawks (9-17) in their loss to Huntley.

Zion-Benton 4-12, Richmond-Burton 2-2: At Zion, the Rockets (11-13) fell in both games of a nonconference doubleheader.


Huntley 5, Glenbard West 0: At Glen Ellyn, Josh Perkins and Adam Kalish combined to throw a no-hitter for the Red Raiders (24-5), with Mark Skonieczny and Tyler Albright each adding two RBIs.

CL Central 9, Burlington Central 1: At Burlington, Tyler Hoffman allowed one earned run on three hits for the Tigers (18-10), with Dan Leverenz driving in three runs and Parker Harold and Matt Tegtmeier each adding two RBIs.

Marengo 6, Woodstock 3: At Marengo, Jeff Wilmot and Koty Kissack each homered for the Indians (12-8), with Kissack totaling three RBIs and Wilmot earning a save.

Austin Butts went 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs for the Blue Streaks (7-16).

CL South triangular: At Crystal Lake, the Gators won both of their games, defeating Wheeling, 11-1 in six innings, and Streamwood, 8-0.

Tyler Hall picked up the win in Game 1 for the Gators (20-6), allowing four hits and an earned run over four innings with five strikeouts. Eric Shiller picked up the win in Game 2 for South, with three hits and four strikeouts over four innings.

McHenry 4-0, Hersey 0-6: At Arlington Heights, Cole Hoeppel-Tranter went 3 for 4 with a double, a home run and one RBI, as the Warriors (21-14) split a nonconference doubleheader.

Marian Central 7, Lakes 5: At Woodstock, Corte Trebacz and Sal Rodriguez each went 3 for 4 for the Hurricanes (17-9), with Trebacz driving in two runs and scoring three runs.

Cary-Grove 12, Stevenson 0 (6 inn.): At Lincolnshire, Zach Marszal went 3 for 5 with a home run, four RBIs and a run scored for the Trojans (19-11).

Carmel triangular: At Mundelein, Prairie Ridge fell to Plainfield South, 4-2, but defeated Carmel, 8-3.

Bryan Klendworth and Austin Covers each had two RBIs for the Wolves (24-11) in their Game 2 win.
