McHenry County under severe thunderstorm watch

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for McHenry County and other Northern Illinois counties.

Thunderstorms that developed over Missouri Monday afternoon will track northeast throughout Monday evening, bringing with them potentially damaging winds and hail, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms could produce hail the size of half dollars and wind gusts over 60 miles per hour.

The severe thunderstorm watch lasts until 3 a.m.
