Trial pitting Trump against 87-year-old nears end

CHICAGO — Jurors are expected to hear closing arguments at a civil trial in Chicago that pits an 87-year-old investor against "Apprentice" host Donald Trump.

Trump's lawyers will put on a brief presentation of evidence to jurors Tuesday before both sides deliver their closings.

The trial stems from Jacqueline Goldberg's allegation that Trump cheated her when she bought properties at the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago.

She testified Monday she had qualms about suing the influential real estate mogul-turned-TV celebrity. But she added, "somebody had to stand up to him."

Trump took the stand for two days last week and adamantly denied Goldberg's allegations. Later, he told reporters that Goldberg is "trying to rip me off."

Goldberg is seeking the return of a $500,000 deposit and other unspecified damages.
