To the Editor:
I was saddened to read of the death of a Woodstock resident who suffered from myasthenia gravis.
From the description, this lady probably bore her burden with dignity.
Myasthenia gravis is an neuro-muscular autoimmune disease that is often misdiagnosed or undiagnosed; some people have symptoms for many years before they are able to get proper assessment and treatment.
The Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of Illinois is a nonprofit organization that provides programs of patient services, public awareness, professional education and patient care to those with myasthenia gravis and their families and friends. We also fund medical research. Our motto is “Strength in Hope.”
