Man gets 90 days for violating parole

WOODSTOCK – A man who allegedly had contact with a Lake in the Hills teen before she died had his probation revoked Thursday.

Brett Jurgens, 25, is said to have provided alcohol to 17-year-old Stephanie Chiakas on the day of the Crystal Lake South High School student’s death.

Jurgens was on probation for a January burglary offense when he was arrested in March. He was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a Class A misdemeanor.

Judge Sharon Prather sentenced Jurgens to 90 days in the McHenry County Jail.

Chiakas was found dead in March at the Crystal Lake home of Elias Ramos-Ortiz, 17. A toxicology report showed that Chiakas had several drugs consistent with heroin use in her system when she died. No alcohol was found.

Ramos-Ortiz was charged with felony possession of heroin. His next court date is June 27.
