To the Editor:
College is what everyone is looking forward to their senior year of high school.
There are so many new experiences awaiting you as you begin your life’s next big adventure. I had decided before graduating my senior year of high school that I would attend Elgin Community College because my dad attended community college, and I knew that it was the right choice because of the affordability.
The school year began, and I attended classes, studied, went to work, and then home. I was often upset that I wasn’t out having a great time. However, that all changed during my second semester at ECC, when I got involved with Phi Theta Kappa. I met many welcoming and inspiring people, made many lasting friendships, and got involved with the many interesting activities. I would recommend getting involved with your college and be a part of everything that happens on campus. When you get involved, you guide your own college adventure.
I am now graduating and looking back on all the opportunities that ECC has provided me, including many volunteer opportunities, scholarships such as the Coca-Cola scholarship, and activities that aided me in my future career. I have had a wonderful two years at ECC.
I will be attending North Central College in Naperville in the fall to study accounting. I am excited to graduate with my associate of science degree, but I will definitely miss ECC because that is where my adventure began.
