CHICAGO — A cellphone video appears to show a security guard at a Chicago high school shoving a student down a flight of stairs.

The video was recorded by another student and released by an attorney for the girl's mother.

It appears to show the guard striking 16-year-old Lauren Goodlow on a stairwell landing, pushing her against a wall and then shoving her down a lower flight of stairs.

Attorney Mark Sutter told reporters Friday the security guard approached the girl while she was arguing with another student Tuesday at Dunbar High School. But Sutter says the girl did nothing to provoke a violent response from the guard.

The girl had cuts and bruises on her face.

The guard has been suspended while Chicago Public Schools investigates. No charges have been filed.
