Pioneer Center to unveil 'community inclusion' model

McHENRY –  Pioneer Center for Human Services, in conjunction with the McHenry County Mental Health Board, is embarking on a new human service philosophy model called “Community Inclusion.”

Pioneer Center invites individuals throughout McHenry County to join them from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Luecht Conference Center at McHenry County College, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake, for the unveiling of the philosophy.

Guest speaker Richard C. Baron, director of Knowledge Transition at Temple University, will present on community inclusion and its impact on Pioneer Center clients. Executive Director Patrick Maynard and Pioneer Center staff will participate in a question-and-answer session.

Community Inclusion focuses on each individual’s uniqueness and provides them with the community resources that fulfill their needs, wishes and goals. Moving away from “facility-based” programming to a “community-based,” individualized programming model will help Pioneer Center achieve its objective of “empowering individuals to achieve their full potential.”
