HARVARD – The Land Conservancy of McHenry County invites the community to a special “sneak peek” at Gateway Nature Park in Harvard from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday.
Volunteers have donated more than 800 hours of time to restore the oak woods and wetlands at this 17-acre property at the intersection of Route 23 and Heritage Lane in Harvard.
The free event will include a walking tour of the property, visits with the 400-year-old white oak that volunteers discovered there and information about the future plans for the site.
Attendees should park along Heritage Lane and meet at the canopy tent.
For information, call 815-337-9502.
The Land Conservancy of McHenry County is working with the city of Harvard and Dunham Township to establish the Gateway Nature Park.
