Construction temporarily eliminates River Road left-turn lane

McHENRY – Starting Wednesday, the intersection at Charles J. Miller and River roads will look a little different.

The temporary intersection change includes eliminating the left-turn lane that takes northbound River Road traffic onto Charles Miller Road, according to a McHenry County Division of Transportation news release.

Drivers still will be allowed to turn left, but they will do so from a shared lane with motorists continuing north on River Road.

The change may cause some traffic delays, the release said.

The new configuration is designed to accommodate an improvement project, which includes widening Charles J. Miller Road to four lanes, adding another bridge over the Fox River and updating the River Road intersection.

Work began in November and is set to wrap up by mid-October.
