CHICAGO – Former White House chief of staff Bill Daley says he'll decide in the next week whether he'll run for governor in 2014.

The Chicago Democrat called the latest legislative session "a debacle." He says Gov. Pat Quinn should have done more to resolve some of Illinois' major issues.

The Legislature adjourned Friday without fixing the state's nearly $100 billion pension crisis or passing legislation to expand gambling. A bill to allow gay marriage also failed.

Daley says Illinois is now "stumbling our way toward a very bad situation."

The son and brother of former Chicago mayors says he's talking to potential contributors and others about whether to challenge Quinn in the Democratic primary.

He said he's not worrying about whether Attorney General Lisa Madigan also plans a Democratic primary bid.
