SPRINGFIELD — More than $73 million in federal aid has been approved so far to help Illinois communities hurt by April's floods.
Gov. Pat Quinn's office said in a news release Monday the help includes grants for short-term expenses such as rent on temporary housing and home repairs.
About $2 million is also available for short-term loans for businesses and individuals.
Thirty-three Illinois counties have been approved for federal disaster assistance following the floods.
People and businesses affected should contact the Federal Emergency Management Agency to register.
