MCC's Continuing Education Department offers art classes

CRYSTAL LAKE –  McHenry County College’s Continuing Education Department offers a variety of art classes.

The following classes are available:

Zentangle: Zentangle is a method of creating beautiful images from structured patterns. It’s fun, relaxing, increases focus, creativity and can provide an increased sense of personal well-being. All materials included in course fee; additional supplies may be purchased.  This course meets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 11 in Room E121. Cost is $35.  Use course ID: NFA S45 006 when registering.

Digital Art: Start learning how to paint in Photoshop in this challenging workshop. Color and shade instructor samples and your own original work using Photoshop, learning the program’s tools and tricks along the way. Bring in your own drawings to scan and color digitally, or use drawings you create in class. Paint anything from comics to nature to landscape art. Bring a jump drive to save your work. This course meets from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, June 10-13, in Room E112 and costs $79.  Use course ID: NPC S05 006 when registering.

Summer Fun Watercolor Workshop: Beginners and experienced painters are welcome to try experimental techniques and materials including collage, monoprints and watercolor inks to create beautiful watercolor landscapes. The instructor will bring paints and brushes. Students should bring an 11-inch-by-14-inch watercolor pad to class and a sack lunch each day. This course meets from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, June 11-12, in Room D158 and costs $89.  Use course ID: NFA S59 011 when registering.

Metal Art Sculpture: This course is designed to teach students the basic skills needed to perform adequate welds for metal art sculpture. Students will be taught how to safely and efficiently operate an arc and mig welder, oxy/acetylene cutting torch and plasma cutter. Students need to wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts and no open-toed or canvas shoes. Work boots are recommended. This class is designed for art enthusiasts who want to learn how to make metal stick together. This course meets from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22 through July 20, at the Woodstock Center, 912 Trakk Lane in Woodstock. The cost is $249. Use course ID: NFA S49 006 when registering.
