MCCD sets Hooked on Fishing events

WOODSTOCK – The McHenry County Conservation District will host Hooked on Fishing family events from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Rush Creek Conservation Area, 20501 McGuire Road, Harvard, and from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at The Hollows, 4804 Route 14, Cary.

The events are free, and no prior fishing experience is necessary. The events will teach beginners fishing techniques and safety tips. There also will be demonstrations and prizes.

Participants are welcome to bring their own gear or borrow the conservation district's. Borrowed fishing equipment will be lent out on a first-come, first served basis.

Advance registration is required and is accepted online at www.mccdistrict.org, by visiting Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road, Crystal Lake, or by phone at 815-479-5779. Sign-in begins at 9 a.m. on both days.

No fishing license is required. Adult supervision of children is required.
