Flag Day coming

Published: Sunday, June 9, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

To the Editor:

Flag Day is June 14. VFW Post 4600 will be conducting a flag retirement ceremony starting promptly at 6 p.m. On hand will be the Boy Scout Troop 131.

Since last Flag Day, our retired flags that have been dropped off were secured in two nice wooden boxes made by Eagle Scout David Gudgeon. I would like to share that the boxes are filled, and many thanks to David and Troop 131 for their handiwork.

The veterans of our post will prepare the flags dropped off this past year. I invite veterans and the public to attend this respectful ceremony. If you have any worn flags that need retired, please bring them to our post.

After the ceremony, our fish fry and ribs will add a nice ending as will speaking to some great veterans. Our post address is 3002 Route 120, McHenry. Our phone number is 815-385-4600. I look forward to seeing you there.
