WOODSTOCK – The Land Conservancy of McHenry County has three volunteer restoration days coming up at local natural areas.

No experience is necessary, but volunteers should dress for the weather and wear work shoes. Juice and cookies will be provided.

• 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Windy Knoll near Crystal Lake. Volunteers will clear invasive brush from a high-quality wetland area that was given to TLC in 2002. To get there from Crystal Lake, take Walkup Road north, and continue onto Crystal Lake Road. Take the first left onto Anvil Road into the Windy Knoll subdivision. Continue left where Anvil turns into Coachlight Road, then take a right onto Swinford Road, which ends at Sweet Bay Drive. The site is on the left.

• 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Yonder Prairie. Volunteers will clear invasive brush and perhaps pull garlic mustard. To get there from the intersection of Kishwaukee Valley Road at Rose Farm Road just west of Woodstock, head south on Rose Farm for 0.3 miles. There will be a hidden drive on the east side of the road just before an open field. Park on the side of the road. The nearest address is 1150 S. Rose Farm Road, Woodstock.

• 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Prairie Ridge Fen. Volunteers will clear brush at this gem of a natural area at the northeast corner of Dean Street and Route 14 in Woodstock behind Prairie Ridge subdivision. Park along the frontage road (Wagner Lane).

TLC is a local nonprofit organization that works with landowners and communities to preserve and restore natural, scenic and agricultural land.
