Sewer work continues along Johnsburg Road

JOHNSBURG – Construction crews will shift their work west to the Johnsburg Road and Riverside Drive intersection around the middle of next week, the village engineer said.

The installation of storm sewer in the southern half of downtown Johnsburg is expected to be complete then, and crews will tackle the section, Mike Hasting, a construction engineer with HR Green, said in an email.

The work is part of the ongoing effort to widen Johnsburg Road from Route 31 to just west of the St. Johns Avenue and Chapel Hill Road intersection to three lanes with one lane in each direction and a center lane for turning.

Traffic signals will also be installed at Riverside Drive and Spring Grove Road, and the hills west of Riverside Drive will be lowered to improve driver visibility.

The village warns drivers to expect short delays as trucks and construction equipment move in and out of the work zone.
