Positive school news

To the Editor:

There is a lot of talk going around about education and how it just isn’t working.

It seems like all we hear in newspapers is how the state cuts funding to education, and it results in a child somewhere not getting the attention he or she needs and deserves.

So I decided to write about something positive for a change.

I’m a student at Harvard High School, and this year we had the opportunity to go to Crosby Elementary School and help out some of the local kindergarteners through third-graders. I just want to thank the Harvard Education Foundation for giving my classmates and me the opportunity to help kids with reading and writing activities.

I would also like to thank the teachers, at the high school and at Crosby, for planning this teaching opportunity. I know how much work and effort they put into the program, and it means a lot that they care about our education so much that they go through the trouble of planning this.

This program is just one example of what people who care about other people can do, and the results are extraordinary.
