CRYSTAL LAKE – Senior Care Volunteer Network (formerly Faith in Action) received a $11,000 grant from the McHenry County Community Foundation, according to a news release from the agency's board of directors.

Funds will be used to increase the hours of the program’s development coordinator.

Senior Care Volunteer Network is a nonprofit organization that uses volunteers to provide services to seniors so they can maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life by remaining in their own home or the home of a loved one for as long and as safely as possible. There is never a charge for services.

Area residents can volunteer to provide transportation, friendly visits, yard work, minor home repairs or short-term respite care. Although volunteers must be 25 years old to drive a senior, volunteers of all ages are welcome.

Those interested in becoming a dedicated volunteer with the programs should call 815-455-3120 or visit
