CRYSTAL LAKE – Area residents can create a keepsake theme quilt or a photo quilt with classes offered by McHenry County College Continuing Education Department.

In the T-Shirt Quilt Demo class, instructor Nona Piorkowski will demonstrate how to turn worn-out, but favorite T-shirts into a one-of-a-kind quilt for a personal keepsake. Bring a notebook, pen and questions to class. The class takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, in Room A113 at the college, 8900 Route 14. The fee is $15.  Use course ID: NCF S01 066 when registering.

Create a photo quilt by turning a favorite photo into a personalized, quilted wall hanging in the Photo Quilt class that takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. July 10 and 24 in Room D152. Bring several 5-by-7 photos to the first session and instructor Nona Piorkowski will help participants determine which photo is the best to use and then show them how to turn it into fabric with the use of an ink jet printer. Bring paper, pen and photos to the first class. A supply list for the wall hanging will be given out on the first day of class. The fee is $30. Use course ID: NCF S88 007 when registering.
